Getting Started
We understand that reaching out for help takes courage, and we want to make the process as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Our admissions team is available around the clock -- day or night, weekday or weekend -- to answer your questions, walk you through what to expect, and help you or your loved one take the next step toward recovery.
Most patients begin treatment within 24 to 48 hours of their initial call. We handle insurance verification, coordinate travel logistics when needed, and ensure that your clinical assessment is completed before you arrive so your care team is fully prepared on day one. There is no judgment here, only trained professionals ready to help.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does treatment typically last?
It really depends on you and where you are in your recovery. Medical detox usually takes about 3 to 7 days, residential treatment runs anywhere from 30 to 90 days, and outpatient programs can last 8 to 12 weeks. Your clinical team will work with you to figure out the right timeline -- there is no one-size-fits-all answer, and we adjust as we go based on your progress.
Do you accept my insurance?
There is a good chance we do. We work with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, Humana, Ambetter, United Healthcare, and Kaiser Permanente, among others. If you are not sure whether your plan covers treatment here, just give us a call at (510) 363-3264 and our team will verify your benefits for free -- usually within a few hours.
Is your detox program medically supervised?
Absolutely. You will have a physician and nursing staff with you around the clock during detox. We use medication-assisted treatment when it is clinically appropriate to keep you as comfortable and safe as possible. Your vitals are monitored continuously, and your care plan gets adjusted in real time based on how you are responding.
Can I visit my loved one during treatment?
Yes, we encourage family involvement. Visitation is available on scheduled weekends, and we also offer family therapy sessions throughout the week. We believe that healing is stronger when families are part of the process, so we make it a priority to keep you connected while still maintaining the structure your loved one needs.
What happens after I complete residential treatment?
Recovery does not end when you leave our campus. Before discharge, your clinical team builds a comprehensive aftercare plan that may include stepping down to our outpatient program, connecting you with local support groups, or enrolling you in our alumni network. We stay in your corner long after you walk out the door.
Do you treat co-occurring mental health conditions?
We do, and we take it very seriously. Many of our patients come to us dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other mental health challenges alongside their substance use. Our dual diagnosis program treats both conditions at the same time because research shows that is what leads to the best long-term outcomes.
Can I use my phone during treatment?
Phone access is available during limited hours each day. We know staying connected matters, but we also want you to be fully present in your treatment. Your care team will walk you through the phone policy during orientation so you know exactly what to expect.
Are pets allowed?
We understand how important pets can be for emotional support, but for the safety and comfort of all our patients, pets are not allowed on campus. If you have a pet at home, our admissions team can help you make arrangements before you arrive so you can focus fully on your recovery.
