Treatment Programs

Evidence-based care tailored to your recovery

Medical Detox

Medical detox at RRA Addiction Treatment is the critical first step toward recovery. Our physician-led team provides 24/7 monitoring during the 3-to-7-day withdrawal period, using medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols tailored to each substance and each patient's medical history. We track vital signs continuously and adjust medications in real time to minimize discomfort and prevent complications.

Detox is not simply about clearing substances from your body. Our clinical staff begins building a therapeutic relationship from day one, conducting initial assessments that shape your individualized treatment plan for the phases ahead. You are never alone in this process -- a dedicated nurse is always within reach, and a counselor checks in daily to address the emotional weight of early recovery.

Residential Treatment

Our 30-to-90-day residential program immerses you in a structured, supportive environment where recovery becomes your full-time focus. Living on-site in one of our 48 private or semi-private rooms, you participate in a balanced daily schedule that distributes time equally among clinical sessions, physical wellness, creative activities, and reflective practice.

Individual counseling sessions use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR for trauma processing, and Motivational Interviewing to deepen self-awareness and build coping strategies. Group therapy sessions foster connection with peers who understand your experience, while adventure therapy and psychodrama offer alternative pathways to insight. Family programming runs in parallel, helping loved ones learn healthy communication patterns and prepare for your return home.

Outpatient Program

Our outpatient programs provide clinical-grade addiction treatment while allowing you to remain in your Oakland community, attend work or school, and maintain family responsibilities. We offer both Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) tracks, each designed to step down intensity gradually as your recovery strengthens.

IOP meets three to five times per week for 8 to 12 weeks, with sessions covering relapse prevention, group process, and skills training. PHP offers a more immersive daytime structure for patients transitioning from residential care or those whose clinical needs require a higher level of outpatient support. Both tracks include regular drug screening, psychiatric check-ins, and coordination with your primary care provider to ensure continuity of treatment.

Dual Diagnosis

Roughly half of individuals with substance use disorders also live with a co-occurring mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bipolar disorder. At RRA Addiction Treatment, our dual diagnosis program treats both conditions simultaneously rather than addressing them in isolation, which research consistently shows produces better long-term outcomes.

Our psychiatric team conducts thorough diagnostic evaluations upon admission and collaborates closely with therapists and counselors throughout your stay. Medication management, trauma-focused therapy, and integrated treatment planning ensure that your mental health needs receive the same level of clinical attention as your substance use disorder. This coordinated approach reduces relapse risk and builds a more stable foundation for sustained recovery.
